Hawk is a Salthouse Corsair. Originally built for NZ Customs, she is an excellent sea boat, but her TAMD41 engines were over 30 years old. In order to increase reliability the decision was made to repower.
The transom shield for the new DP-H drives is wider but more squat than the 290 drives they replaced, so the transom needed to be modified.
While the engine bed width is the same, the length and height of the D4-225 mounts are different. To accomodate this the engine beds were built up and had steel fixing plates glassed in.
The engines also had different steering, water feed, engine controls and fueling.
